Sometimes, we think about sewing a complicated dress just to challenge our skill...at the same time, we need it immediately...
So, why don't you try to sew something simple like this dress...
The original design is simple...but try to modify it like i did...rather than use drawstring, use button...or else...
make your own modification...not just to this dress, but to all dress you may seen in your magazine...use challenging fabrics like sheer or else...you'll see that it may take more time to make it than you think...at the same time, your skill and patience are improved...
I see it in Burda quite often that they use the same design in their one issue...but they modify it, the fabric, the pocket...really, change a lot!...so, i just thought it might be great for those who wants to learn fashion design but don't know how...why don't you try to modify clothes you see as the first learning to fashion designing...Sometimes, it's hard to get an idea but as warm-up, i think modifying design will be a good way...
Another way: If you have your own dreamed style in your head, spill it out, whatever it is!...since i was a kid, i always want my own style...i didn't realize it before but i think it's like a training for me to get a new idea...Magazines are just for reference...but i don't copy or modify their design...So, after some training of yourself, i'm sure you will find your own style and start to make it...i always believe, that some skills are gifted but they can be learned...
i can draw clothes but really i didn't know how to draw the model you see in my picture...i took the course and now, i can draw it...
I hope, i won't see some post in another blog or else said that "oh, how lucky...i wish i can draw like you..."...I want all people can do fashion design in their own way...
