It's boring to use the fabric for predictable project that is usually attached to the 'nature' of the fabric or common 'perception' about the fabric.
I did it to my 2 first bustiers (^v^). Silk and fabricated embroidered chiffon are I know what kind of clothes that will be made most of that 2 fabrics here (in my local country)...I change it. I used a sophisticated silk to make a super cute bustier and I used fabricated embroidered chiffon that is usually used to make kebaya to make a very cute knee-length dress. To be honest, in the original design, it wasn't as cute as the real project.
I also sew a short (but not really short, though) with mmm it's cotton, though but it has a motif that is machine embroidery (it's from the company made it that way). This kind of fabrics are rare to be made as short (nope, never seen it before) but I did it and it's cute.
Change your perception, you'll see something fresh.
