too many similarity in creating something doesn't mean it's an excuse for us to copy someone's work by saying 'there's nothing original now". That's pretty lame for me though.
I admire my bustier teacher. She's been sewing and using a 'traditional' or let's say 'conservative' sewing technique and pattern (including measurement technique). One day, based on her knowledge and experience (that compiled of many study, course and practice...and experience, too), she create a technique (pattern and measurement) that can be used by a brand BEGINNER sewing student. This student was finally able to sew clothes that are usually in intermediate level with a lot of modification. The bustier she taught me is a simple one, yet, it's not that simple either. Still using plastic bone, and the fitting must be yes, FIT! She said, there's another way to make a bustier but that's too complicated.
I still wonder, why some people say,"there's nothing original now..."...ok...then, why not making something original YOU by using a similar technique or knowledge?
My teacher taught me the same technique as that student but the style we create? based on my teacher story about her other student, we have a very different style and each of us is unique. Even the sewing skill itself is different between us (of course, i have more practice than her...she was super brand new beginner)...And THAT'S ORIGINAL!: we make things our own way, our own style, our own identity...although it's a trendy, it will still be looked "original"...
And I also hate it when someone says like:'oh, of course you can make it, you have the talent, smart, bla, bla, bla, bla...'. CRAP! It's not always about the talent, it's about the PASSION! Passion will encourage us to keep learning, trying, and being creative...
Gosh, I wish, i never read or hear something like those opinion again (-x-)'
