After making some new projects, I'm reconsidering to use thick and hard interfacing. My intention for using that kind of interfacing was to keep the shape of my projects and to strengthen the fabric as well. Yes, it worked very well but using this interfacing arise some problems 1. sewing ::: my sewing machine has limitation. Although it can managed the thickness caused by the interfacing but I think I must think another way to limit the torture (^.^)' 2. assembling ::: projects I made sometimes not only consist of pockets that the width is as same as the main body's width, main body, etc...so many layers...using thick interfacing will make me harder when assembling it...I caused quite a lot of missed (0.5 cm is quite a lot for me) when layering pocket and main body...it was ok when layering it, but after sewing it, somehow, the pressure foot of sewing machine couldn't hold it tight...it was moved although I had pinned it...I must make adjustment, then...the result?...don't worry, still cute and great (^.^)...another problem the layers became too stiff and then hard to shape...It's not too difficult for "straight" line project like rectangle shape...but for "round" project, it's quite hard to do... 3. supplies issue::: meaning: as I always said, I live in a mountain...supplies are rare here and very expensive when it's available. I must safe my interfacing for clothing purpose, too...I'm going to trick my next sewing project (non fashion) and using another kind of supplies to keep the shape of the project...I haven't tried this before...I've seen it in a Japanese magazine...it can be my reference but although I watch the illlustration again and again, it's not too clear...I think, I'll do it my way...moreover, this supplies are intended for craft project when I bought it...so, I don't have to share it with clothing project \(^.^)/... I also noticed that some projects are OK without thick and/or hard interfacing...may be, except for pouch or wallet or similar projects...For bags or other bigger projects, using ordinary interfacing is ok, I think... Moreover, I'm also lucky...my last purchase, mostly are mid-weight fabrics...I think I can use ordinary interfacing next time...I can't wait for my next project...I'm going to start choosing the fabric and then make something... cherio, |
